Split a receipt with friends
Take a photo of the bill and Tabster reads it back as a list of items with prices. Tabster gives you a digital, interactive version of the receipt. You share the bill with the group via link or QR code. Everyone taps what they ordered on their own phone, and each person’s share — including their cut of tax and tip — is calculated as they go.
It’s 100% free, and the people you are splitting with do not need an account or the app.
How it works
Snap the receipt
Photograph it, upload from your camera roll, paste a link, or forward an email. Every line item comes back priced.
Everyone claims their items
Share a link or let people scan the QR code at the table. Tap to claim, swipe to split anything shared.
Settle up
Venmo, PayPal and Cash App open with the amount and recipient filled in. Mark it paid and the balance clears.
What you can split
Anything with a total on it, whether or not there is a paper receipt:
- Restaurant bills and bar tabs
- Delivery orders — paste the link or screenshot the cost to upload a photo
- Groceries and shared household runs
- Invoices and utility bills, forwarded straight to a Tabster email address
- Anything with no receipt at all, manually entered as a plain amount
Why splitting by item beats splitting evenly
You save hassle and fees for the restaurant, you get to pay for exactly what you got on the bill, and it’s more fun! You get a feed of all your memorable dinners with friends, where you can upload photos and add comments.
Claiming items removes the tedious part. Tax, tip and service charges are apportioned to what each person actually claimed, so the split is accurate without anyone doing arithmetic at the table.
